Greta Gerwig's Little Women

Image
Hi Everyone! Today I am going to review the recent movie of "Little Women". I really enjoyed this movie, and I will tell you more about it.  Little Women is a retelling of the classic novel of the same name. It portrays four sisters; Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy. It is just a simple and beautiful story about growing up, and also some of the struggles that women faced in the era it was set in (1860's during the period of the American Civil war). Meg is a girl who dreams of finding love, and being an actress. Jo is a tomboy who doesn't want to fit into her society's representation of a girl. Beth is just a simple girl who loves her family and her piano. Amy is the baby of the family, who hates being second to Jo and loves to paint. I grew up reading Little Women, and I have read all four books in the series. I really do think that this movie did the novels justice, and if Louisa May Alcott was here, then she would've really appreciated the retelling. I think

In the defence of "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" (Warning: Contains Spoilers)

Image
Hi Everyone. Hope you are having an amazing day! The movie I would like to review today is Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Now before I get into this review I have to warn all the readers that it contains major spoilers about the plot of this movie.  I went to see this movie at the beginning of this year, and I would like to say that it has been one of my favourite movies I have seen so far. And that is why I was genuinely shocked when I saw a lot of negative reviews about it, and people saying that it was one of the worst of the Star Wars movies, when I thought it was actually one of the best. Full disclaimer I am not very learned in Star Wars lore, and I am not a mega fan, but I have seen episodes IV-IX. I would like to at least let you look at it  from the point of view of someone who loves this movie, instead of someone who doesn't. The first thing I enjoyed about this movie was the plot. I think that this movie stepped up from "The Last Jedi" in terms o

Bridge to Terabithia (Book)

Image
Hey Everyone!  Today I am going to review a more modern book, but one that is really beautiful and one that I absolutely love.  Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson is the story of a young boy named Jess Aarons who aspires to be the fastest runner in his class. And then a young girl his age named Leslie Burke moves next door to him and everything changes. He learns to find excitement in life, and how to face difficult situations. And all because of Leslie. She prepared him for the hard time ahead in his life. And little did he know how much he would need it.  There are many reasons why I love this book: 1. The value on friendship  This book really shows how a good friendship can impact your life. Jess was lonely before he met Leslie, although he didn't realise it. But when he met Leslie, he started to understand the importance of friendship. It made him realise that other people are special and that they deserve to be treated well. 2. Terabithia  Terabithia is a

The Man Who Knew Too Much

Image
Hi Everyone! I am super excited to post about this movie! I have been wanting to post about it for ages. The Man Who Knew Too Much with Doris Day and James (Jimmy) Stewart, directed by the all time great Alfred Hitchcock, is one of my all time favourite movies!  The Man Who Knew too much is about a husband and wife going on holiday with their ten year old son, only to get involved in an international assassination plot. They are just innocent people going on a holiday, but they never foresaw what was about to happen to them!  Here are some of the reasons that this movie is one of my favourites:  1. It is a psychological thriller.  What I mean by a psychological thriller is that this movie doesn't thrill you by visual effects, but it scares you psychologically. Alfred Hitchcock the director of this movie, is the master of the psychological thriller. This movie messes with your mind in ways you definitely wouldn't expect it to.  2. The plot.  The plot of this movie is so

Pride and Prejudice (BBC TV Series)

Image
Hello everyone! I am so sorry I didn't post for a few weeks it has been quite busy for me, especially with the dance competition season starting. Anyway I am super excited about this post!  I recently did a post on "Pride and Prejudice" the novel, but today I want to post about the BBC series. I absolutely love this show as it is probably one of the best remakes of a book that I have ever seen. The series is 6 hours long, and I think this is why it is so good. It doesn't rush, but it takes its time. Below are 3 reasons why I love this series so much. (FYI I haven't seen any other remakes of Pride and Prejudice so I won't say that this one is better than them. However I am pretty sure that it is. 😂)  1. It is so close to the book!  This series is incredibly close to the book! Did I mention how close it is to the book? The script seems to have been taken straight from the book. And I admire this because it shows that the writers just really appreciated the

Emily of New Moon

Image
Emily of New Moon by L. M. Montgomery is a really great book that I think is great for kids. If you recognise the author's name, that is because she was also the author of Anne of Green Gables. Not many people know that she wrote the Emily series, but in my opinion I actually like it better than the Anne of Green Gables series. There are three books in the Emily series, but today I would like to focus on the first one.  Emily of New Moon is about a girl named Emily who is orphaned and sent away to live with her Aunt's and Cousin in a house called New Moon. Her mother was a Murray, and the Murray family was one of the greatest families and the richest at that time. Her mother had eloped with her father, and therefore her family never talked to her afterwards, but because of the Murray Pride, they took in Emily when her father died. Emily is a very imaginative girl, and when her father died she would write letters to him and tell him about everything that was happening to he

Pride and Prejudice (Book)

Image
I have been super excited to post about Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, as it is a great book and really worth reading! Pride and Prejudice is about the Bennet family, who live in an estate called Longbourn. Mr and Mrs Bennet have 5 daughters: Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, Kitty and Lydia. The story is about Mrs Bennet, their mother, trying to marry off her girls, and Mr Bennet laughing at the crazy antics of Mrs Bennet. The title of the book refers to two of the main characters in the story, Mr Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet. Mr Darcy is the owner of a great estate in Derbyshire which is called Pemberley. His main fault is pride, and throughout the book he learns to be more humble. Elizabeth Bennet is the second daughter of Mr and Mrs Bennet and her main fault is prejudice. She instantly dislikes Mr Darcy because she hears him say that she is not pretty enough to tempt him, and maintains this opinion of him, even when it should've been obvious to her that she had no reason or fou
