Bridge to Terabithia (Book)

Hey Everyone!

Today I am going to review a more modern book, but one that is really beautiful and one that I absolutely love.

Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson is the story of a young boy named Jess Aarons who aspires to be the fastest runner in his class. And then a young girl his age named Leslie Burke moves next door to him and everything changes. He learns to find excitement in life, and how to face difficult situations. And all because of Leslie. She prepared him for the hard time ahead in his life. And little did he know how much he would need it.

There are many reasons why I love this book:

1. The value on friendship

This book really shows how a good friendship can impact your life. Jess was lonely before he met Leslie, although he didn't realise it. But when he met Leslie, he started to understand the importance of friendship. It made him realise that other people are special and that they deserve to be treated well.

2. Terabithia

Terabithia is an imaginary land created by Jess and Leslie where they go and become King and Queen. I love how this book shows the power of imagination, and how when you let your mind go, how creative you can be, and also how it can help you solve problems in real life. It also is an escape from the monotonous life that Jess had to live.

3. The Ending

Ok, I know that I am probably going to have this as one of my points for a lot of reviews, but I guess one of the things that makes me love a book or a movie is the ending. And this ending makes me cry! Like a lot! But obviously I want you to read the book, so I am not going to give it away. Let's just say that I didn't really expect it, and I hoped for a second that it wasn't the way the book was going to end, but it did end that way. Even though it was incredibly sad, I still loved it!

Even though I love this book, it does have some objectionable content in it which I would like to point out. One is that it does have a bit of language and taking God's name in vain such as lot's of uses of Lord and Good Lord. There is also a bit of negativity toward church, but at the same time, I actually think that it is trying to show that religion for the sake of religion is not good enough, and that Christianity should be about a relationship with God.

Even though there is that content in the book, I still recommend reading this book. I think anyone 12 and up should read this book. I rate it 8/10.
